Duminica: Retrospectiva externa a saptamanii (14-20 iunie)

* James Maynard Keenan, carismaticul front-man al trupelor Tool, A Perfect Circle si Puscifer, si Billy Howerdel, chitaristul A Perfect circle si solistul/chitaristul Ashes Divide, au oferit un moment memorabil pe data de 14 iunie, la E3 Video Game Convention (Los Angeles), interpretand celebra piesa a celor de la Queen, 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. Prestatia a fost incoprorata intr-un show multimedia total, scotand in evidenta inca o data, daca mai era nevoie, aptitudinile vocale incredibilie ale lui Keenan.

* Asemenea tuturor trupelor din valul initial de NU-metal, si Papa Roach s-au linistit si au trecut la piese mult mai user-friendly. Cea mai noua compozitie a acestora este intitulata 'Kick In The Teeth', este mult mai putin violenta decat ar sugera titlul, si poate fi ascultata mai jos.

Piesa va fi inclusa pe viitorul album al trupei, "Time For Annihilation... On The Road and On The Record", care va fi o combinatie de piese live si compozitii noi.


* O varianta live a viitorului single Filter, 'The Inevitable Relapse', poate fi urmarita mai jos. Filmarea a fost realizata pe data de 31 mai 2010, la Hollywood Roosevelt.

Piesa va fi inclusa pe cel de-al cincilea album de studio al trupei, "The Trouble With Angels", care va fi lansat in luna august via Rocket Science Ventures. Discul marcheaza o reintoarcere la radacinile industrial metal ale trupei, vizibile pe primele si totodata cele mai apreciate materiale, "Short Bus" si "Title Of Record".


* Formatia de alternative metal/metalcore/post-hardcore din Alsaka 36 Crazyfists va lansa un nou album de studio, cel de-al cincilea din discografie. Materialul este intitulat "Collisions And Castaways" si va fi disponibil incepand cu data de 27 iulie, prin intermediul celebrului label Roadrunner Records.

Albumul va avea si cativa invitati: Adam Jackson de la Twelve Tribes, Raithon Clay de la Plans To Make Perfect si Brandon Davis de la Across The Sun. De partea de productie se vor ocupa chitaristul Steve Holt si Andy Sneap.

Single-ul care va promova albumul este 'Reviver', acesta urmand sa beneficieze si de un clip in saptamaniile urmatoare.

* Doua trupe cult ale underground-metal-ului, The Melvins si Isis vor lansa pe data de 13 iulie un split-single 12", prin intermediul label-ului Hydra Head.

Isis si-au anuntat de curand retragerea din activitate, la finele turneului in desfasurare, dupa o activitate de pionierat pe scena post-metal, timp de 13 ani. Melvins au in spate aproape 30 de ani de activitate, 18 albume de studio, zeci de EP-uri, single-uri si compilatii, fiind o influenta esentiala in formarea unor genuri precum grunge si stoner rock.


* Compozitorul german Max Richter va lansa un nou album, cel de-al cincilea din cariera, pe data de 20 iulie. Acesta se cheama "Infra" si este produs de label-ul 130701.

"I started thinking about making a piece on the theme of journeys. Like a road movie. Or a traveler’s notebook. Or like the second unit in a film - when the scene has been played, and the image cuts away to the landscape going by. This started me thinking about Schubert's devastating and haunting "Winterreise" (Winter Journey), so I used some melodic material from Schubert as a found object in parts of my new piece."


* "Record Club" este un proiect fascinant initiat de celebrul muzician american Beck Hansen, in cadrul caruia diversi artisti si prieteni ai acestuia sunt invitati sa cante in intregime albume clasice. Cover-urile, care rezulta in urma unei sesiuni de inregistrari care dureaza o singura zi, sunt postate pe site-ul lui Beck: http://www.beck.com/recordclub/.

"Record Club is an informal meeting of various musicians to record an album in a day. The album chosen to be reinterpreted is used as a framework. Nothing is rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. A track is put up here once a week. The songs are rough renditions, often first takes that document what happened over the course of a day as opposed to a polished rendering. There is no intention to 'add to' the original work or attempt to recreate the power of the original recording. Only to play music and document what happens."

Ultimii invitati ai lui Beck au fost Tortoise si Thurston Moore, dar deocamdata nu se stie ce albume au fost alese de acestia. Cea mai recenta realizare din cadrul proiectului a fost albumul INXS - "Kick", interpretat de Beck alaturi de St. Vincent, Liars si Os Mutantes.

* Trupa americana de industrial metal Filter se pregateste de lansarea celui de-al cincilea album de studio. Acesta va fi intitulat 'The Trouble With Angels' si va aparea in luna august, prin intermediul casei de discuri Rocket Science.

Tracklist-ul materialului va fi urmatorul:

Precedentul LP Filter a fost "Anthems For The Damned", aparut in 2008. Formatia a devenit cunoscuta odata cu lansarea albumului de debut, "Short Bus", care a inclus controversata piesa 'Hey Man Nice Shot', despre sinuciderea publica a lui Budd Dwyer.

Primul single de pe noul album, 'The Trouble With Angels', a fost lansat pe data de 26 mai si poate fi ascultat mai jos.

* O noua piesa a trupei americane de alternative/NU-metal Ill Niño, intitulata 'Scarred (My Prison)', poate fi ascultata pe pagina acestora de myspace sau in clipul de mai jos.

Precedentul album Ill Niño, "Enigma", a fost lansat in martie 2008, inregistrand vanzari dezastruoase in comparatie cu primele 3 materiale.


* 1979 este anul in care legendara trupa de punk rock Bad Religion si-a inceput activitatea. Suntem in 2010 si Greg Graffin & co. inca se afla pe scena. Mai mult, formatia a anuntat ca a inceput lucrul la cel de-al cinsprezecelea album de studio. Discul va fi produs de Joe Barresi si va contine 16 piese, data lansarii fiind 28 septembrie.

Precedentul album Bad Religion, "New Maps Of Hell" a fost lansat in 2007.

Noul album va fi inregistrat in formula Greg Graffin (voce, 1979–prezent), Brett Gurewitz (chitara, 1979–1983, 1986–1994, 2001–prezent), Jay Bentley (bas, 1979–1982, 1986–prezent), Greg Hetson (chitara, 1984–prezent), Brian Baker (chitara, 1994–prezent) si Brooks Wackerman (tobe, 2001–prezent).


* "Cheng is showing signs of improved neuro function and improved alertness at this time. Increased response to verbal stimuli. Directed movement, with purpose, seen and observed."

Acesta este raportul doctorului Dr. Joseph Nguyen din data de 19 mai, in ceea ce priveste starea basistului Deftones, Chi Cheng. Chi a fost implicat intr-un grav accident de masina in luna noiembrie a anului 2008, aflandu-se de 18 luni intr-o stare de semi-constienta.

Cheltuielile pentru spitalizarea lui Chi au atins sume fabuloase. La adresa http://www.oneloveforchi.com/ se strang fonduri de la fanii de pretutindeni.

In 1996, KoRn includeau pe albumul "Life Is Peachy" un track dedicat basistului Deftones, intitulat 'Chi', care in aceasta perioada este mai actual ca niciodata.

* The Pulse Of Radio ne informeaza ca Rage Against The Machine se gandesc sa inregistreze un nou album. Este prima data de la reuniunea din 2007 cand se vorbeste despre un eventual nou material de studio.

Zack de la Rocha: "I think it's a genuine possibility. We have to get our heads around what we're going to do towards the end of the year and finish up on some other projects and we'll take it from there."

Ultimul album Rage Against The Machine, "Renegades" a fost lansat in 2000, fiind o colectie de cover-uri dupa o serie de trupe precum MC5, Afrika Bambaataa, Devo, Minor Threat, Cypress Hill, The Stooges sau The Rolling Stones.

Mai sus vedeti o imagine celebra din istoria Rage Against The Machine: trupa arzand steagul american in timpul concertului sustinut in cadrul festivalului Woodstock 1999.


* Intr-un interviu pentru Rax Active Citizenship Toolkit, Thom Yorke face cateva declaratii la adresa starii actuale si viitoare a industriei muzicale. Solistul Radiohead este foarte direct:

"When the corporate industry dies it will be no great loss to the world. So, I guess I would say, don't tie yourself to the sinking ship because, believe me, it's sinking."

Cel mai recent album Radiohead, "In Rainbows", a fost lansat sub forma unui download gratuit pe site-ul trupei, dupa 12 ani de contract cu EMI si 6 albume lansate in forma "clasica".

"It's simply a matter of time - months rather than years - before the music business establishment completely folds."

Radiohead lucreaza la ora actuala la un nou album, despre care nu se cunosc insa nici un fel de detalii referitoare la continut sau data lansarii.


* Legendara trupa scotiana de alternative/indie-pop The Vaselines isi va lansa cel de-al doilea album de studio din cariera, pe data de 14 septembrie, la un label despre care nu este nevoie sa mai adaugam nimic - Sub Pop.

Materialul va fi intitulat "Sex With An X" si va contine 12 piese:

The Vaselines s-au format in 1986 si au lansat pana in prezent doar doua EP-uri ("Son Of A Gun" - 1987 si "Dying For It" - 1988) si un LP ("Dum-Dum" - 1990). Dupa lansarea acestuia din urma, trupa s-a destramat, dar legenda de abia acum incepea sa se contureze, prin intermediul celor de la Nirvana, care vor promova intens trei cover-uri Vaselines: 'Son Of A Gun', 'Molly's Lips' si 'Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam'. Vaselines s-au reunit in 2008, dupa o pauza de 18 ani.

'I Hate The 80's', o piesa de pe noul album, poate fi ascultata mai jos.

* Intr-un interviu acordat Rolling Stone, James Maynard Keenan ne informeaza ca este probabil sa beneficiem cat de curand de albume din partea proiectelor sale Tool si A Perfect Circle. Ultimul album Tool, "10000 Days", a aparut in 2006, in timp ce A Perfect Circle au lansat "Emotive" in 2004.

Keenan nu este insa foarte comunicativ: discul va fi lansat "cand va fi gata". "We're always writing. If it comes together, yeah, you'll hear some new stuff. If it's not ready, you won't."

In ceea ce priveste turneul Tool care debuteaza pe 19 iunie, Maynard spune:

"Maybe I'll just come out in my birthday suit. A 46-year-old naked dude running around onstage. Lets see how that goes over."

Nici despre albumul A Perfect Circle nu sunt date prea multe detalii:

"We've got some riffs and some music. It's just basically playing it over and over again while driving and waiting for things to fall into place."


* Soulfly nu mai au nevoie de nici o prezentare. Insa chitaristul Marc Rizzo mai are si alte proiecte in desfasurare, pe langa celebrul grup thrash/NU-metal condus de Max Cavalera.

Cel mai recent dintre acestea este Inpsychobleedia, o trupa formata alaturi de Dennis Kimak - chitara, Elo Hernandez - bas si Anthony Devizio - tobe. Rizzo se ocupa de chitara si de voce.

Primele doua piese Inpsychobleedia, 'Blind Leads the Blind' si 'Demonic Crypto History' pot fi downloadate via iTunes si Amazon.

De-a lungul carierei, Rizzo a mai cantat alaturi de Committee Of Thirteen, Ill Niño, Cavalera Conspiracy, si a lansat 3 albume solo, cel mai recent ("Legionnaire") chiar in 2010.


* Celebra trupa britanica de grindcore Napalm Death a lansat un nou videoclip, intitulat 'On The Brink Of Extinction'. Piesa face parte de pe cel mai recent album de studio al trupei, "Time Waits For No Slave", lansat pe 23 ianuarie 2009.

Mark Greenway: "As regards the meaning of the song, we wanted to convey that the process of evolution is an amazing thing, but also to say that as human beings we have the ability to assist where other beings suffer. In other words, we don't just let the rule of 'survival of the fittest' dictate that we should just stand back and either allow things to go into decline or participate in it."


* Formatia suedeza de death metal Demonical a lansat un nou videoclip, intitulat 'Baptized In Fire'. Piesa face parte de pe cel de-al doilea album al trupei, "Hellsworn", lansat in mai 2009.

Marti: Recomandare Formatie – Puscifer

Puscifer este cel mai recent proiect al solistului Tool si A Perfect Circle, James Maynard Keenan, aparut pe fondul unei lipse de activitati in cele doua trupe.

In cadrul proiectului, Keenan a colaborat cu numerosi artisti, printre care Renholdër (Danny Lohner), Milla Jovovich, Lisa Germano, Josh Eustis, Satan's Muse, Lustmord, Jonny Polonski, Tim Alexander, Tim Commerford, Brad Wilk, Joey Jordison, Ainjel Emme, Josh Eustis (Black Light Burns si Telefon Tel Aviv), Gil Sharone, sau Trey Gunn. Singurul membru permanent Puscifer este insa Keenan, motiv pentru care acesta poate fi considerat un pseudonim pentru creatiile sale solo. Iata cum descrie acesta Puscifer - "simply a playground for the various voices in my head where my Id, Ego, and Anima all come together to exchange cookie recipes."

Din punct de vedere muzical, Puscifer abordeaza o gama larga de sound-uri, trecand de la beat-uri industrial la piese acustice, toate avand ca singur element comun timbrul vocal inconfundabil si tulburator al lui Keenan. Asemanarile cu Tool sau A Perfect Circle sunt destul de rare, proiectul fiind unul mult mai experimental si avangardist.

* Tryptikon, noua trupa a lui Tom G. Fischer, fostul solist al legendarelor trupe Celtic Frost si Hellhammer, isi va lansa albumul de debut, "Eparistera Daimones", pe data de 22 martie. Doua piese de pe viitorul material, 'Abyss Within My Soul' si 'A Thousand Lies', pot fi ascultate pe pagina de myspace a trupei.

Albumul va avea un artwork cu totul special, celebrul artist suprarealist de origine elvetiana H.R. Giger acordandu-le celor de la Triptykon privilegiul de a folosi pentru coperta albumului lucrarea sa "Vlad Tepes" (1978). Precedentul disc care a avut pe coperta o lucrare a lui Giger a fost Carcass - "Heartwork", aparut in 1993. Giger a mai colaborat cu Fischer si pentru art-work-ul albumului Celtic Frost - "To Mega Therion" (1985).

Pe langa lucrarea lui H.R. Giger, art-work-ul "Eparistera Daimones" va mai contine un portret al membrilor trupei pictat de artistul suprarealist de origine new-yorkeza Vincent Castiglia chiar cu sangele sau.

"I am very proud to work with Triptykon. My art hasn't appeared on an album cover for quite some time, and I feel honored to have been approached by Tom about such a collaboration for Triptykon's very first release." (H.R. Giger)

Tryptikon vor sustine doua concerte in luna aprilie, in Olanda (16 aprilie - Tilburg, Roadburn Festival) si Portugalia (30 aprilie, Barroselas, SWR Barroselas Metalfest).


* Chino Moreno, solistul trupei Deftones, a acordat un interviu revistei SPIN, in care vorbeste despre planurile de viitor ale trupei din Sacramento si noul album de studio, care va fi lansat in luna mai a acestui an. Precedentul disc, "Saturday Night Wrist", a fost lansat in 2006, si trebuia sa fie urmat de un material intitulat "Eros". Acesta, desi finalizat, a fost insa abandonat dupa accidentul sufeit de Chi, urmand sa fie lansat cand trupa va considera ca este momentul. Noul album a fost inregistrat avandu-l la bas pe Sergio Vega.

Iata cateva fragmente din respectivul interviu, care poate fi citit in intregime aici.

"There's not a minute on this record that feels like it doesn't need to be there. Each sound complements the other. I'll straight-up say it: it's definitely one of our best albums.

I love songs where I can totally take myself out of being human. I can sing about really odd things, and they don't necessarily have to pertain to me at all. It paints a picture. Those are the kind of lyrics I grew up with -- like the Cure. Really visual images and no storytelling."


* Un preview al viitorului album Burzum, "Belus", continand fragmente din toate piesele din tracklist, poate fi ascultat mai jos:

"Belus" va fi lansat pe 8 martie 2010, fiind primul album de studio Burzum dupa 11 ani, si primul 'metal' dupa 17 ani.


* Viitorul trupei Tool este sub semnul intrebarii. "10000 Days", lansat acum aproape 4 ani, ar putea fi ultimul album din discografia celebrei trupe californiene de progressive metal.

"I can't sit still, so when those guys hesitate, it takes us so long to do stuff, and it's like a snake eating its own tail situation, 'cause then I get distracted and I go off and do a thing, and then I get blamed for not being around to do the (TOOL) thing," he said. "But nothing was getting done when I was standing there, so I got bored and left. It's just an endless cycle." (James Maynard Keenan)

Intre timp, Maynard continua activitatea alaturi de proiectul sau Puscifer, care au programat un turneu pe coasta de est a Americii in lunile martie si aprilie. De asemenea, solistul se ocupa in timpul liber cu productia de vinuri, despre care vom putea afla mai multe din documentarul "Blood Into Wine", care va fi lansat pe data de 19 februarie.

Nici chitaristul Adam Jones nu sta degeaba, acesta intalnindu-se cu fondatorul King Crimson, Robert Fripp, alaturi de care va continua munca la un album inceput in urma cu 5-6 ani.


* Trupa britanica de industrial metal Godflesh va reveni pe scena in vara acestui an, printr-un concert sustinut in cadrul Hellfest Summer Open Air care va avea loc in Clisson, Franta, in perioada 18-20 iunie. Formata in 1988 Justin K. Broadrick (voce, chitara) si G. C. Green (bas), trupa Godflesh a activat pana in 2002, lansand 7 albume de studio si venind cu elemente inovatoare care vor pune bazele genurilor industrial si post-metal.

Intr-un interviu acordat revistei Terrorizer, Broadrick declara ca Godflesh nu au deocamdata nimic stabilit in afara de concertul de pe scena festivalului Hellfest, si ca nu este sigur daca vor mai continua sa cante dupa acest show. Tot sub semnul intrebarii este si un enevtual viitor album.

"Godflesh will not commit to anything but Hellfest currently. I am unsure as to where we will go from there, if we go anywhere at all. I consider the reunion more worthwhile for those who never got the chance to experience the band live, especially under great conditions, as in projections and big stage/sound."


* "Feast Of Fools" este numele viitorului album de studio Killing Joke. Acestia au revenit pe scena in 2002, dupa o pauza de 6 ani, lansand de atunci doua albume, "Killing Joke" (2003) si "Hosannas From The Basements Of Hell" (2006). In prima perioada de activitate, 1978-1996, Killing Joke au lansat 11 albume, combinand in muzica lor elemente post-punk, new wave, gothic rock, industrial metal, alternative rock, heavy metal, electronic, synth-pop sau hardcore si devenind o trupa foarte influenta pentru numeroase trupe grunge, post grunge si metal din anii '90, precum Tool, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Foo Fighters, Primus, Metallica, KoRn sau Ministry.

"Feast Of Fools" va fi lansat in luna aprilie, fiind urmat de cateva concerte in Londra, Edinburgh, New York si Los Angeles.


* Supergrupul Them Crooked Vultures va lansa un nou album in 2010, declara basistul John Paul Jones.

"We're all hard workers. In a way we need to do this for ourselves. Once we committed to it we worked as hard as a young band would, put the hours in. It's got to be good – we've got reputations to uphold more than anything else."

Primul album al trupei, auto-intitulat, a fost lansat pe 16 noiembrie 2009.


* Clasica trupa norvegiana de black metal Darkthrone isi va lansa cel de-al paisprezecelea album de studio pe data de 5 aprilie. Acesta va fi intitulat "Circle The Wagons" si va contine urmatoarele piese:

* Shirley Manson, carismatica solista a trupei Garbage, a postat un mesaj pe pagina sa de Facebook, prin care lasa sa se inteleaga ca formatia lucreaza la un nou album de studio.

"Guess who I just spent a week in the studio with? Would you be pleased if I said one of them was called Steve and one of them was called Duke and another was a Grammy-winning producer?"

In mod evident, Shirley se refera la colegii ei de trupa - Duke Erikson (bas), Steve Marker (chitara) si Butch Vig (tobe), acesta din urma fiind co-producator al albumului Green Day - "21st Century Breakdown", care a castigat de curand premiul Grammy pentru cel mai bun album rock al anului 2009.

Garbage au lansat pana in prezent 4 albume de studio: "Garbage" (1995), "Version 2.0" (1998), "Beautiful Garbage" (2001) si "Bleed Like Me" (2005).
