* Solistul trupei System Of A Down, Serj Tankian, se pregateste de lansarea celui de-al doilea album solo, intitulat "Imperfect Harmonies". Noul material discografic va aparea pe data de 21 septembrie la casa de discuri Serjical Strike/Reprise si va avea ca prim single piesa 'Left Of Center', al carei videoclip, recent lansat, il puteti urmari mai jos:

Intrebat de The Pulse Of Radio despre o posibila revenire a trupei System Of A Down, Serj Tankian a declarat:

"Shavo got married like two months ago, we were all at his wedding, and you know, we all talk, we're friends, nothing's changed, and we get offers to play shows, tours, whatever, and we discuss them once in a while. We have not made any decisions as of yet as to what we're gonna do. But when we do, it'll be quite obvious."

La randul sau, basistul Shavo Odadjian a dezvaluit intr-un interviu acordat revistei Hustler motivul pentru care trupa a decis sa ia aceasta pauza pe timp nelimitat:

"We won a Grammy and we had two number one records. We were making a lot of loot. Then some people within the group of four brothers started seeing things differently... and their actions made the reactions of others pretty unbrotherly-like."

MusicRadar.com: One thing that stands out on the new album is your use of distortion, which has long been a hallmark of your sound. What is your philosophy about distortion?

Page: "Distortion is a tonal color, for sure. I look back to my first distortion box, the MXR Plus — I didn't know anything about it, but I loved how cool and crunchy it made my sound. I learned a lot when I played in Band Of Susans and I picked up a lot of tricks. You spend time manipulating sounds and eventually you can become a sonic sculptor.

"Take the piece from the new record called 'Morphing': I have nine guitars on there, doing different versions of feedback. It sounds beautiful. I always wanted to study orchestration, so I did — I studied at USC. Eventually, I got ideas of how to build and orchestrate distortion and feedback. If you keep an open mind about sound and don't try to limit yourself to the status quo, you can do anything."

MusicRadar.com: One more question about the new album: You do a fantastic cover of The Beatles' "And Your Bird Can Sing". Did you intentionally pick one of the harder guitar songs in The Beatles' catalogue?

Page: "No, not at all. I just always loved that song and thought of doing it. It's such an odd track and I always felt like I could do something cool with it. The degree of guitar difficulty didn't come into my mind. I just love the song, the way it progresses.

"The Beatles were amazing. There's another song of their theirs, 'Dear Prudence'… Man, there's triads starting at the 15th fret, working through the inversions. Those guys knew their instruments. I don't know if they could sight-read, but they were phenomenal musicians. Anybody who questions the musicality of The Beatles, they're just not paying attention."

* Conform chitaristului Tom Morello, Rage Against The Machine nu intentioneaza sa scoata un nou album anul acesta. Morello a declarat unui post de radio din Florida:

"We're playing some shows in South America. The band gets along great, we're playing some of the best shows of our career over the last couple of years, and no one is ruling out that... Zack's been in the middle of making a One Day At A Lion record, and he's been on tour with that, I have a Street Sweeper record coming out, and I'm working on he next The Nightwatchman record. So there's no plans to go into the studio and do that now, but as a band, I hope that we will continue to, at a minimum, play shows in the future."

Ultimul material discografic al trupei, intitulat "Renegades", a fost lansat in anul 2000.


* Celebra trupa de grunge Pearl Jam implineste anul acesta 20 de ani de existenta. Cu toate acestea, membrii nu doresc sa organizeze ceva deosebit pentru a marca acest eveniment. Totusi, in aceeasi perioada, ei vor lua parte la concertele de caritate organizate de Neil Young pentru copii cu deficente fizice ai scolii Bridge din Mountain View, California.

Chitaristul trupei, Steve Gossard, a declarat pentru The Pulse Of Radio:

"The only thing we've got going on in October is Bridge School, which is really special. So that's our 20th anniversary, which is fitting. It's perfect: not too blown up. It's not about us, it about all those kids that are on stage with you and about Neil Young and his commitment, his influence."

*Legendara trupa de NY hardcore Madball va lansa un nou album, intitulat "Empire", pe data de 12 octombrie, via Good Fight Music. O prima piesa de pe acest nou material discografic, intitulata 'R.A.H.C.' poate fi ascultata pe pagina de myspace a trupei.

* O alta trupa care sarbatoreste anul acesta 20 de ani de activitate este My Dying Bride. Pentru a marca acest moment, membrii au decis sa lanseze un best of, intitulat "Evinta", care este programat sa apara in aceasta toamna via Peaceville Records. Deocamdata nu se cunosc alte detalii.

De asemenea, trupa intentioneaza se re-editeze pe vinil albumul "Turn Loose the Swans", lansat in 1993.

My Dying Bride este o trupa de doom metal din Anglia, care in toata aceasta perioada de 20 de ani a lansat nu mai putin de 10 albume, 3 EP-uri, 4 compilatii, un album live si un box set. Membrii trupei sunt Aaron Stainthorpe (voce), Andrew Craighan (chitara), Hamish Glencross (chitara), Lena Abé (bas), Dan Mullins (tobe) si Shaun Macgowan (keyboards/vioara).


* Formatia de alternative metal Helmet se pregateste de lansarea unui nou album. Intitulat "Seeing Eye Dog", noul material discografic este programat sa apara pe data de 7 septembrie la casa de discuri Work Song.

* Triptykon au participat de curand la festivalul Jalometalli, care a avut loc in orasul Oulu din Finlanda. Cu aceasta ocazie, organizatori evenimentului i-au luat un interviu solistului Tom G. Warrior (ex-Hellhammer, Celtic Frost) pe care il puteti viziona mai jos:

'The Catalyst' reprezinta primul single al noului album Linkin Park, intitulat "A Thousand Suns". Acest nou material discografic este programat sa apara pe data de 14 septembrie la casa de discuri Warner Bros.

* Revista Spin a realizat recent un amplu reportaj despre legendara trupa de grunge Soundgarden. Articolul contine informatii interesante legate de anumite momente decisive din istoria trupei, precum si un interviu cu toti componentii acesteia. Mai jos puteti citi cateva extrase :

Soundgarden called it quits in 1997, weeks after an ugly final concert in Honolulu that ended with Cornell and drummer Cameron playing a few songs by themselves after Shepherd walked off in frustration over faulty gear, and Thayil followed him. It wasn't exactly The Last Waltz. At the time, Cornell says, tensions within the band were high and communication was at a low, but for a band that had thundered its way to prominence, Soundgarden just seemed to sort of peter out.

Chris Cornell: "The one thing about Soundgarden most people don't get is that we always got along. We drank, and any band that drinks is going to have chaos, but we never had that internal negativity that usually spells the obvious reasons a band breaks up."

Chris Cornell: "A lot of times bands reform, and people have changed in ways that might be negative, and you're just fighting to be able to play the music with some degree of efficiency. We're not that."

Kim Thayil (guitar): "We're not the Knights of the Soundtable, that was our fan club. We were just re-upping it with the new website. But the rumors generated offers. The demand was overwhelming. I wouldn't say we acquiesced, but we kind of warmed to the idea."

Chris Cornell: "It would be exciting to record one song, to hear how Soundgarden-ish that might be this much time later. But for me, it's been more of a trip relearning the songs and playing them together. Some of the songs we're approaching we've never played live."

Revenirea trupei a declansat mult entuziasm nu numai in randul presei, ci si in randul fanilor. De aceea, Chris Cornell & co. au decis sa le ofere acestora un nou material discografic. "Telephantasm" este numele best-of-ului pe care trupa il va lansa pe data de 28 septembrie.

* Trupa de ambient house/IDM The Orb va lansa pe data de 4 octombrie, via Columbia Records, un nou album, intitulat "Metallic Spheres". La realizarea acestui CD a contribuit si celebrul solist/chitarist al trupei Pink Floyd, David Gilmour.

Bazele The Orb au fost puse in anul 1988 de Alex Paterson si Jimmy Cauty. Pana in prezent, grupul a lansat pe piata 9 albume de studio, cel mai recent fiind "Baghdad Batteries (Orbsessions Volume III)" (2009).

* Triptykon, trupa in care activeaza Tom G. Fischer (ex-Celtic Frost, Hellhammer), va lansa pe data de 25 octombrie un nou material discografic, EP-ul intitulat "Shatter". Acesta va aparea la casa de discuri Century Media, atat pe CD cat si pe vinil.

*Legendara trupa de grunge Soundgarden, recent reunita dupa o pauza de 13 ani, a sustinut pe data de 8 august un concert in cadrul celebrului festival Lollapalooza, care se desfasoara anual in orasul Chicago. Aceasta a fost a treia aparitie live a trupei dupa reuniune.

*Formatia finlandeza de funeral doom metal Shape Of Despair va lansa in luna octombrie, la casa de discuri Solarfall Records, un EP intitulat "Written In My Scars".

* Trupa de industrial/black metal Samael a inceput lucrul la un nou album. Membrii trupei au intrat deja in studio si preconizeaza ca pana la sfarsitul lunii august vor termina inregistrarile. Pentru ca fanii sa fie mereu la curent cu ceea ce se intampla in studio, trupa va posta pe pagina oficiala de twitter update-uri periodice.

Formatia Samael a fost infiintata in anul 1987 in orasul Sion din Elvetia, abordand la inceput genul industrial metal, pentru ca ulterior sa treaca la black metal cu diferite influente electronice. Discografia trupei cuprinde nu mai putin de noua albume, ultimul, intitulat "Above", fiind lansat in martie 2009.


* Trupa americana de post-metal/sludge metal Pelican implineste 10 ani de activitate. Acest eveniment va fi marcat prin sustinerea a doua concerte, unul in Chicago, pe data de 23 octombrie, iar celalalt in Los Angeles, pe 30 octombrie. De asemenea, un CD aniversar, ce va contine piese de pe toate albumele si EP-urile trupei, va aparea la casa de discuri germana Viva Hate, pe data de 19 octombrie.

Pelican s-au format acum 10 ani in orasul Chicago si au lansat pana in prezent patru albume si patru EP-uri. Cel mai apreciat material discografic al trupei il reprezinta albumul "The Fire in Our Throats Will Beckon the Thaw", aparut in 2005.


* Conform The Pulse of Radio, proiectul trupei Smashing Pumpkins, intitulat "Teargarden by Kaleidyscope", se va finaliza doar dupa patru ani, nu dupa doi, asa cum s-a estimat initial. Cu privire la acest lucru, solistul trupei, Billy Corgan, a declarat:

"Things are taking off right now so much that we're getting a lot of demand to go on tour, so I've got to figure out when I'm going to record. Right now I only have three more songs done and waiting to be released, and I have probably 60 songs written."

Pana acum au fost lansate 5 piese de pe viitorul album, primele patru fiind compilate pe un EP intitulat "Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, Vol. 1: Songs for a Sailor", care a aparut in editie limitata la casa de discuri Martha Music.

Intr-un interviu acordat Pitchfork.com, solistul trupei, Rivers Cuomo, a declarat cu privire la coperta CD-ului:

"We just wanted to use that picture of Jorge Garcia's face on the cover. It's such an amazing album cover, and we didn't want to have any other words on it, so we just figured everyone was going to call it Hurley, so that's what we call it."

Aceasta va fi intitulata "Stronger: Forty Days Of Rock, Jesus, And Salvation" si va aparea pe data de 30 noiembrie la editura HarperOne.

* Trupa americana de alternative metal Deftones se pregateste de filmarea unui nou videoclip pentru piesa 'Sextape', aleasa ca al treilea single ce va promova albumul "Diamond Eyes", lansat in luna mai a acestui an. Din cadrul echipei care se va ocupa de realizarea acestui clip fac parte Zak Forrest si Chad Liebenguth.

Trupa a mai realizat cate un videoclip pentru piesele 'Rocket Skates' si 'Diamond Eyes', primul fiind regizat de 13thWitness, iar cel de-al doilea de catre Robert Schober.

* Celebra trupa de grunge Soundgarden se pregateste de lansarea unui nou disc, dupa o pauza de 13 ani. Noul material discografic, care va fi lansat pe data de 28 septembrie la casa de discuri A&M, reprezinta o compilatie de hituri, live-uri si raritati.

"We've had a really good year. We have always had fans from all over the world but we've always had a lot of supporters in the U.K. and Europe. With this particular run, and all we've been through, the crowds have been very supportive. * Formatia americana de nu-metal Linkin Park a lansat pe data de 2 august un nou single, 'The Catalyst', piesa care va aparea pe viitorul album al trupei, "A Thousand Suns", care urmeaza a fi lansat pe data de 13 septembrie.

Chitaristul trupei, Brad Delson, a declarat pentru The Pulse of Radio:

" 'A Thousand Suns' is definitely a diverse and eclectic record, and at the same time it has a cohesive sound. And we did think that 'The Catalyst' would be a good first representation of the album. It's very different from anything we've done before, and it's just a journey."

'The Catalyst' este cel de-al nouasprezecelea single lansat de Linkin Park de-a lungul activitatii, primul fiind 'One Step Closer' (2000).

* Conform The Pulse of Radio, trupa de alternative rock A Perfect Circle, al carei solist este nimeni altul decat Maynard James Keenan, frontman-ul trupelor Tool si Pucifer, isi va relua in curand activitatea. Atat chitaristul Billy Howerdel, cat si tobosarul Josh Freese, au sugerat via Twitter/Facebook faptul ca se doreste reactivarea formatiei, care nu a mai scos un disc din 2004, cand a aparut albumul "Emotive" - o colectie de cover-uri cu tema politica.

* Manic Street Preachers isi vor lansa cel de-al zecelea album al carierei pe data de 27 septembrie. CD-ul, intitulat "Postcards From A Young Man", a fost produs de Dave Eringa si va aparea la casa de discuri Columbia.

* Formatia de alternative/post-grunge Chevelle implineste anul acesta 10 ani de activitate. Pentru a sarbatori acest moment cei trei membri planuiesc o serie de show-uri prin toata America. Primele doua concerte vor avea loc pe 18 si 19 octombrie, in orasul Chicago, locul unde trupa a debutat live.

"After more than 10 years of writing and releasing records, we thought 'What better place to come back to than the place where we were first inspired'. We saw our first real rock show at the Metro is 1988 and we thought it would be amazing to mark this point in our career with a show there."

In cei 10 ani de activitate, Chevelle au lansat 5 albume de studio: "Point #1" (1999), "Wonder What's Next" (2002), "This Type of Thinking" (Could Do Us In) (2004), "Vena Sera" (2007) si "Sci-Fi Crimes" (2009). * Revenita pe scena dupa o absenta de 8 ani, trupa britanica Skunk Anansie a realizat un nou videoclip pentru piesa 'My Ugly Boy', primul single de pe viitorul album de studio, "Wonderlustre", planificat pentru data de 13 septembrie. Clipul poate fi vizionat mai jos:

Tobosarul trupei, Mark Richardson, a declarat despre viitorul material discografic:

"This is a really different record for us and I'm already extremely proud of what we've achieved just in terms of the songs. It's really shaping up to be something special, but then I would say that."

'Ugly Boy' este cel de-al 16-lea clip realizat de Skunk Anansie, primul fiind 'Selling Jesus' (1995) iar precedentul 'Squander' (2009).


* Chitaristul trupei Korn, James "Munky" Shaffer, va aparea ca invitat pe noul album al formatiei canadiene de industrial rock Deadly Apples. Tot ce se stie deocamdata este ca acesta a inregistrat impreuna cu grupul canadian doua piese.

Formatia Deadly Apples s-a format in 2002 si are la activ un album si un EP. Urmatorul material discografic, pe care va aparea si chitaristul Korn, va fi lansat cel mai probabil la inceputul anului viitor.

* Chris Shiflett, chitaristul clasicei trupe de alternative Foo Fighters, a dezvaluit intr-un interviu acordat site-ului Spinner.com cateva detalii despre viitorul album de studio al formatiei.

"I've read that Dave (Grohl) said It's gonna be the heaviest Foo Fighters record ever and I think it'll definitely be a lot more rocking than the last couple. Butch Vig (who produced Nirvana's 'Nevermind') is gonna produce the record. Dave built a studio at his house and we'll be recording it there. I believe the tracking room is in fact his garage! I should probably sell it as going back to basics. The truth is it's gonna be a world class studio. We'll have a bunch of good gear. But we'll definitely be going back to basics."

"I just finished mixing the last song for Stillwell. I play guitar in this project. That has been a lot of fun for me because I started out as a guitar player. I've got Q Unique on vocals, Ess Spider on bass and I've got Wuv from P.O.D. playing drums. The music is called "street metal." We are actually looking for a deal right now. I am supposed to meet with some people today about that. We are looking for a "different" type of deal to release it. So it is finished. The name of the album is "Surrounded By Liars".

"The music industry has changed so much, to the point where everybody just burns CDs or it's on your iPod. It is almost like CDs are obsolete. My youngest daughter is eight months old but I think that by the time that she is a teenager I will show her a CD and she will say, "What's that!" A good example is Stillwell. I was talking to my singer Q and said, "Let's put a product out a T-shirt or a doll and you would get the Stillwell CD for free with it." Today, you just want people to get it the music and hopefully give them a little extra in return."

* Legendarul grup de New York hardcore Madball, tocmai a terminat lucrul la un nou material discografic, intitulat "Empire". Inregistrarile au avut loc in studioul Mana din Florida, iar de productie s-a ocupat Erik Rutan (Misery Index, Cannibal Corpse, Goatwhore).

Iata cateva declaratii ale solistului Freddy Cricien, din care putem afla unele detalii legate de noul album:

"There's a certain sound that we're known for, and as much as we want to evolve with the times, we also have to keep in mind that there's a certain standard and integrity with Madball, and we have to preserve that."

"Madball has come a long way from being street kids to becoming very established in our genre, and even beyond the music. We're finally at a point in our life where we're taking control of our things, whereas before we didn't have control of some things or didn't choose to have control. "There are plenty of awesome bands that have come out of the city. It's not a title we gave ourselves and it's not that we call ourselves that, but it's just a term of endearment and respect that people use and it plays into the name 'Empire'."


* Gavin Rossdale, revenit de curand pe scena alaturi de trupa care l-a facut celebru - Bush, a dezvaluit pentru The Pulse of Radio ca dupa terminarea turneului pentru promovarea albumului sau solo, intitulat "Wanderlust", a gasit de cuviinta ca e timpul pentru o reuniune a trupei.

"I went right the next day off of tour into the studio to write, and it just dawned on me that really kind of the weakest link in doing these songs was maybe bringing it under my own name. I felt that the solo thing was cool, but it was more by default than design, and I really was just thinking, 'Man, this should just be — why is this not Bush? I mean, this is crazy.'"

Gavin Rossdale a pus bazele trupei Bush in 1992, alaturi de chitaristul Nigel Pulsford. Au debutat in 1994 cu albumul "Sixteen Stone", care s-a vandut in mai bine de 10 milioane de exemplare. Dupa 10 ani de activitate, din cauza popularitatii in scadere si a unor conflicte cu casa de discuri, Bush s-au hotarat sa se retraga. Dupa 2 ani petrecuti alaturi de o noua trupa, Institute, Rossdale s-a aventurat intr-o cariera solo care nu s-a apropiat de succesul avut alaturi de Bush. * Dupa lansarea celui mai recent disc, "Korn III - Remember Who You Are", Korn se afla in prim planul scenei muzicale actuale, beneficiind de o atentie considerabila din partea mass-mediei. Chitaristul si membrul fondator Munky a acordat pe data de 11 iulie un interviu unui post local de radio din Mountain View, California. In cadrul acestei discutii, Munky a dezvaluit faptul ca printre formatiile sale preferate se numara si Triptykon, noua trupa a lui Tom G. Warrior, fostul solist Celtic Frost.

Triptykon s-au format in 2008, dupa destramarea Celtic Frost, in Zurich, Elvetia. Primul album, "Eparistera Daimones", a fost primit foarte bine de comunitatea metal, fiind un disc intunecat care continua linia trasata de ultimul material Celtic Frost, "Monotheist". Zilele glam metal ale lui Tom Warrior sunt demult apuse, iar "Eparistera Daimones" este o combinatie letala de black metal, death, doom si avantgarde.

* Formatia Korn a sustinut un concert inedit de o ora si douazeci de minute intr-un cerc facut in cadrul unui lan de grau aflat langa Bakersfield, localitatea natala a membrilor. Cercul, ce include si celebrul logo Korn, a fost realizat de o firma din Marea Britanie specializata in acest domeniu, numita CircleMakers. Premiera concertului a avut loc via HDNet, pe data de 11 iulie, iar o zi mai tarziu show-ul a putut fi vazut si la nivel mondial, prin intermediul Myspace.

Referitor la acest eveniment inedit in istoria Korn, membrii trupei au declarat:

"The setting and the mood took us into a totally new direction musically. We took the opportunity to stretch out and experiment with the performance. I don't think we'll ever be the same." (Jonathan Davis)

"I felt like we were on some new frontier musically for Korn. This is definitely going to add a new dimension to our live shows." (James "Munky" Shaffer)

* Legendara formatie norvegiana de black metal Mayhem si-a re-lansat pe vinil celebrul album "Live In Leipzig". Materialul, inregistrat pe 26 noiembrie 1990, in clubul Eiskeller, a fost lansat in 1993 si a ramas in istorie ca fiind unul dintre putinele inregistrari realizate de genialul line-up format din Hellhammer (tobe), Necrobutcher (bas), Euronymous (chitara) si Dead (voce). Dupa cum se stie, solistul Dead s-a sinucis in 1991, iar chitaristul Euronymous a fost ucis in 1993.

Vinilul, care a fost produs intr-un numar limitat de 1000 de bucati, contine piese de pe cele mai apreciate albume de studio ale trupei: "Deathcrush" (1987) si "De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas" (1994), care la vremea respectiva fusese compus dar urma sa fie inregistrat. Nu a mai apucat sa beneficieze si de aportul lui Dead, care s-a sinucis, avandu-l pana la urma ca solist pe Attila Csihar, care va revolutiona stilul vocal in muzica black metal.

* Pearl Jam, una dintre putinele trupe de grunge care a avut o activitatea neintrerupta de la formare pana in prezent, s-a hotarat sa ia in sfarsit o pauza. Conform NME.com, solistul Eddie Veder le-a spus fanilor, la un concert din cadrul festivalului Optimus Alive! 10 din Lisabona, Portugalia:

"Thank you for coming to our last show. Not our last ever, but our last in a long time."

Dupa aceasta afirmatie solistul nu a mai adaugat nimic legat de eventuala pauza. Concertul din Portugalia a marcat incheierea turneului european de promovare al celui de-al noualea album de studio Pearl Jam, intitulat "Backspacer", aparut pe 20 septembrie 2009.

* Casa de discuri Roadrunner a realizat impreuna cu James "Munky" Shaffer, chitaristul trupei Korn, un material video in care acesta spune povestea din spatele fiecarei piese de pe noul album Korn, intitulat "Korn III: Remember Who You Are".

* O alta trupa care tocmai a lansat un videoclip este Fear Factory (California, industrial metal). Piesa care beneficiaza de clip se numeste 'Powershifter' si reprezinta primul single de pe ultimul album al trupei, intitulat "Mechanize", lansat in luna februarie a acestui an.

Burton C. Bell: "I am very curious to see the reaction to this video. It was filmed by a good friend of ours, Myles Dyer. He has been a great supporter of Fear Factory for a long time, and now he has become a prominent videographer. He traveled with us for about a week during the U.K. portion of the 'Fear Campaign' tour earlier this year."

Videoclipul va fi difuzat exclusiv pe Internet.

* 13 septembrie este data la care celebra trupa californiana de alternative rock Weezer va lansa un nou album de studio. Acesta va fi cel de-al optulea din dicografia trupei, cel mai recent fiind "Raditude", aparut in urma cu 9 luni.

Noul material nu are deocamdata un titlu. "I've spent the entire morning trying to come up with a name for the record. How does 'Heavy Mental' sound? There's definitely going to be more raw rock energy on this one", spune solistul si chitaristul Rivers Cuomo.

Weezer s-au format in 1992, fiind una dintre cele mai apreciate grupari din miscarea alternativa a nilor '90. Au combinat chitarele de tip Nirvana cu o atitudine complet "un-cool" care ar putea fi considerata "stramosul" unor stiluri precum indie sau chiar emo.

* Trupa Tenacious D, compusa din excentricul actor Jack Black (voce, chitara) si Kyle Gass (chitara), a interpretat in cadrul concertului sustinut la festivalul Bonnaroo din Manchester, Tennessee, un scurt tribut in memoria lui Ronnie James Dio.

In luna mai, Jack Black declara intr-un comunicat emis de Time Magazine:

"Dio has always been my favorite heavy-metal vocalist. Not just for his musical chops but also for the passion he poured into every performance. His use of beautifully haunting melodies leading to volcanic eruptions of raw rock power led to some of the great anthems of the genre."

* Fuse si Billboard.com au realizat un interviu cu membrii trupei Limp Bizkit in care acestia vorbesc despre evenimentele recente si urmatorul album al trupei, mult asteptatul "Gold Cobra", care va fi primul material de studio dupa 7 ani de pauza. Membrii trupei se arata foarte optimisti in legatura cu noul album, considerandu-l o revenire la vechiul stil, caruia ii este adaugata insa o vizibila "prospetime". In timpul interviului, Fred Durst poarta un tricou imprimat cu coperta celui mai recent album Deftones, "Diamond Eyes". Interviul poate fi urmarit mai jos.

Intr-un alt interviu, pentru MTV News, Durst clarifica situatia actuala a trupei: "We're Limp Bizkit. And if you didn't like it before, you're not going to like it now. If you don't want to hear a band that plays super-heavy grooves, with an MC rapping over it, then you shouldn't listen to Limp Bizkit."

* Reveniti pe scena in 2009 dupa o absenta de 8 ani, cei de la Skunk Anansie se pregatesc de lansarea unui nou album de studio, cel de-al patrulea din cariera. Discul va fi intitulat "Wonderlustre" si este programat sa apara pe data de 13 septembrie. Un prim single, intitulat 'My Ugly Boy', va fi lansat pe 16 august. Artwork-ul CD-ului arata astfel:

Skunk Anansie s-au format in 1994 in Londra si au cucerit repede mainstream-ul alternative rock prin combinatia de sonoritati melodice, chitare heavy si versuri cu mesaj social-politic. Au lansat 3 albume de studio ("Paranoid And Sunburnt" - 1995, "Stoosh" - 1996 si "Post Orgasmic Chill" - 1999) pana la despartirea din 2001. Revenirea din 2009 a fost dublata si de lansarea unui best-of, intitulat "Smashes And Trashes".


* Ne-a obisnuit cu muzica techno/ambient insa de curand s-a hotarat sa puna bazele unui proiect heavy metal. Este vorba despre Moby si Diamondsnake (http://www.myspace.com/diamondsnakerocks), al caror prim videoclip, 'Storm The Fucking Kastle', poate fi urmarit mai jos.

Vorbind despre Diamondsnake cu Los Angeles Times, Moby se plange insa ca noul sau proiect este primit cat se poate de prost de ascultatorii de gen.

"We've gotten some attention from the heavy-metal community, and they hate us more than I ever thought was possible."

De asemenea, Moby explica ce l-a determinat sa mearga in aceasta directie neasteptata.

"The music I make is quite personal and earnest, but there's just something really nice about writing heavy metal songs. I leave myself out of it completely. I think about what a heavy metal guy would write."


* Smashing Pumpkins continua sa creeze material pentru epopeea sonora in 44 de episoade "Teargarden By Kaleidyscope". Cea de-a cincea piesa de pe viitorul album este intitulata 'Freak' si poate fi downloadata gratuit de pe site-ul trupei.

'Freak' va fi disponibila si pe EP-ul "Teargarden By Kaleidyscope Volume 2: The Solstice Bare", alaturi de urmatoarele 3 piese care vor fi lansate. Primul EP de 4 piese dintre cele 11 care vor alcatui albumul "Teargarden By Kaleidyscope", intitulat "Teargarden By Kaleidyscope Volume 1: Songs For A Sailor", a fost lansat pe data de 25 mai.


* Aaron Lewis are vesti bune pentru fanii trupei Staind. Formatia va incepe in luna noiembrie sa inregistreze un nou album de studio, iar dupa lansarea acestuia solistul se va ocupa de primul sau album solo.

Desi initial programase albumul solo inaintea celui Staind, Lewis a declarat ca doreste intai sa scape de obligatiile contractuale pe care formatia le are cu casa de discuri. Despre material, Lewis spune: "It's acoustic guitar based and I recorded it in Nashville with a bunch of country session musicians. So it's kind of somewhere between country and James Taylor and 'It's Been A While'." Primul single de pe album va fi intitulat 'Country Boy', dar nu se cunoaste deocamdata nici o data exacta de lansare.

Pana in prezent, Staind au lansat 6 albume de studio: "Tormented" (1996), "Dysfunction" (1999), "Break the Cycle" (2001), "14 Shades of Grey" (2003), "Chapter V" (2005) si "The Illusion of Progress" (2008). Dupa un inceput foarte NU metal, formatia s-a orientat catre un post-grunge semi-acustic.


* 13 iulie este data la care noul album Korn, "Korn III - Remember Who You Are" va putea fi cumparat. Pana atunci, aveti posibilitatea de a asculta materialul integral la acest link.

Cel de-al noualea album de studio Korn a fost planuit inca de la inceput ca o revenire la sound-ul initial al trupei, motiv pentru care a fost cooptat si producatorul primelor doua albume Korn, Ross Robinson. O alta premiera este in ceea ce priveste casa de discuri - Roadrunner Records.

De asemenea, este primul material de studio pe care este creditat ca membru oficial al trupei tobosarul Ray Luzier, al treilea fara chitaristul Head si al doilea fara David Silveria (tobe).


* Dupa Deftones si Korn, o alta formatie exponentiala a curentului NU metal, Linkin Park, se pregateste de lansarea unui nou album de studio. La fel ca si in primele doua cazuri, materialul este departe de genul NU metal si de coordonatele initiale ale trupei, continuand cel mai probabil linia trasata de precedentul disc, "Minutes To Midnight". De altfel, producatorii albumului vor fi aceeasi: Rick Rubin si Mike Shinoda.

Albumul va fi intitulat "A Thousand Suns" si va fi disponibil incepand cu data de 14 septembrie, via Machine Shop Recordings/Warner Bros. Primul single va fi intitulat 'The Catalyst'.

Fanii Iron Maiden au atras atentia asupra unor similaritati dubioase. Dupa ce albumul "Minutes To Midnight" a adus aminte foarte mult de "Two Minutes to Midnight" al celebrei trupe de heavy metal, "A Thousand Suns" nu este departe de piesa 'Brighter Than A Thousand Suns' a aceleiasi formatii.


* Vin din New Jersey si au revolutionat muzica NU metal prin adaugarea unei dimensiuni noi, imprevizibile: latin metal. Ill Nino au anuntat ca vor lansa anul acesta un nou album de studio, prin intermediul label-ului Victory Records. Materialul va fi intitulat "Dead New World" si va fi lansat candva in toamna.

Va fi cel de-al cincilea album de studio pentru Ill Nino, dupa "Revolution Revolución" (2001), "Confession" (2003), "One Nation Underground" (2005) si "Enigma" (2008).

Despre viitorul disc, tobosarul Dave Chavarri spune: "Our new CD is everything you expect from Ill Nino's original Latin metal sounds; it's heavy as fuck, full of Cristian growling vocals, melodic choruses, tribal Latin rhythms, sick guitars, as well as also being the most progressive record we've ever recorded!"

O prima piesa de pe viitorul album, 'Scarred (My Prison)' a fost deja dezvaluita si poate fi ascultata mai jos.

* Queens Of The Stone Age planuiesc sa inceapa lucrul la un nou album de studio, dupa ce vor termina actualul turneu. Josh Homme: "I have ideas already, absolutely. It's all about wiggling hips. The music is gonna go further down that strange and lovely path of "Era Vulgaris".

Albumul nu va aparea mai devreme de vara anului 2011. Pana atunci, fanii trupei se pot bucura insa de re-editarea clasicului "Rated R", care va aparea in aceasta toamna alaturi de bonus-track-uri, b-side-uri si live-uri.

Viitorul album va fi cel de-al saselea efort discografic al trupei formate in 1997 in Palm Desert, California.


* Noul album al trupei americane de post-hardcore Norma Jean, "Meridional" va fi lansat maine in Marea Britanie si poimaine in SUA. Este cel de-al cincilea album al trupei, precedentul fiind "The Anti Mother", aparut in 2008.

* Pe data de 1 iulie, Korn au aparut in cadrul celebrei emisiuni "Jimmy Kimmel Live!". Filmarile noilor piese 'Oildale (Leave Me Alone)' si 'Let The Guilt Go' pot fi urmarite pe Youtube, mai jos.

Intr-un interviu pentru The Pulse Of Radio, solistul trupei Korn, Jonathan Davis, a dezvaluit motivele pentru care a decis reintoarcerea la vechiul sound:

"We felt it was time for us to go back and try and do like an old-school record. After 'Peachy', we started, you know, working with different producers and really experimenting, and with 'Untitled' it feels like we've explored all we wanted to explore, and it was time for us to strip things back down again and just write an intense, emotional record."

Noul album Korn, intitulat "Korn III - Remember Who You Are", va fi lansat pe data de 13 iulie prin intermediul celebrului label Roadrunner Records. Producatorul albumului nu este nimeni altul decat Ross Robinson, cel care s-a ocupat si de primele doua albume ale trupei.


* Bad Religion se pregatesc de lansarea unui nou album, cel de-al cincisprezecelea din cariera trupei. Noul material discografic, despre care se stie deja ca va contine 16 piese si va fi lansat pe data de 28 septembrie, va fi intitulat, conform basistului Jay Bentley, "The Dissent Of Man".

Noul album va fi inregistrat in formula Greg Graffin (voce, 1979–prezent), Brett Gurewitz (chitara, 1979–1983, 1986–1994, 2001–prezent), Jay Bentley (bas, 1979–1982, 1986–prezent), Greg Hetson (chitara, 1984–prezent), Brian Baker (chitara, 1994–prezent) si Brooks Wackerman (tobe, 2001–prezent).


* Trupa 36 Crazyfists a ales deja primul single ce va promova noul lor album, intitulat "Collisions And Castaways". Melodia se numeste 'Reviver' si poate fi deja cumparata de pe iTunes.

Frontmanul trupei, Brock Lindow, a declarat prin intermediul unui comunicat de presa ca albumul este: "[…] a fierce, dark, crushing collection of eleven tracks that rip from the speaker like a runaway train."

In ceea ce priveste temele melodiilor solistul a spus:

"It's definitely about life, my life and possibly all our lives."[…] "It's just something I wanted to get off my chest. All these years, I have been saying if you can quit making some of these mistakes, your life is going to change and you're going to better and you have to be proactive about it. I thought I was doing it myself, but I wasn't. I really wanted to talk about what has hampered progress for me in my life. It's about trying to be the best human being you can be and really putting some things to rest and moving forward."

* Celebra formatie britanica de alternative/post-grunge Bush a revenit pe scena, dupa 8 ani de absenta, nu insa in formula originala. Solistul Gavin Rossdale nu va mai canta alaturi de Nigel Pulsford si Dave Parsons, cei doi fiind inlocuiti de chitaristul Chris Traynor si basistul Corey Britz.

In aceasta noua formula, trupa va sustine pe data de 25 septembrie primul concert dupa o pauza de opt ani, in cadrul Epicenter Music Festival din California. Tot in septembrie va fi lansat un nou material discografic, intitulat "Everything Always Now". Albumul va aparea la label-ul Interscope si va fi produs de Bob Rock.

Bush s-au format in 1994 la Londra si au la activ alte patru albume:
- "Sixteen Stone" (1994)
- "Razorblade Suitcase" (1996)
- "The Science of Things" (1999)
- "Golden State" (2001).

* Noul videoclip al trupei Papa Roach, 'Kick In The Teeth' poate fi urmarit la acest link.

Piesa reprezinta primul single extras de pe noul album al trupei, intitulat "Time For Annihilation...On The Road and On The Record", care va contine deopotriva inregistrari de studio si inregistrari live.

* Celebra formatie de trip-hop Portishead a anuntat ca a inceput lucrul la cel de-al patrulea album din cariera trupei. Geoff Barrow a marturisit in cadrul unui interviu pentru BBC6 Music ca doreste foarte mult sa compuna noi piese pentru a lansa un nou disc.

"I just want to bang on and get another record done."

Tot in cadrul aceluiasi interviu, Barrow a mai spus ca trupa a semnat un contract cu o noua casa de discuri, dar nu a precizat care.

"It's with a major. It's with the biggest record company in the world. It's with people we trust, which with a band is the most important thing."

Ultimul album al formatiei, intitulat "Third", a aparut in anul 2008 si a marcat revenirea trupei dupa o pauza de 11 ani.


*Tobosarul trupei Radiohead, Philip Selway, va lansa un album solo, intitulat "Familial", pe data de 30 august. "[…]We only had about an hour's worth of stuff back then because most of Paranoid was actually written on stage in these little clubs we used to do for eight hours a day. We wrote most of the Paranoid album while we were on tour before the first album even came out, and then we took about five days out and recorded Paranoid, then [we] went back on the road."

"I switched from rhythm guitar because a lot of the bands were getting into Cream and Hendrix and people like that. You're either a lead guitarist or a bass guitarist, and there was just no call for rhythm guitarists if you wanted to play that kind of stuff. When I went to see Cream [I] couldn't believe the way that Bruce played bass, and it sort of totally inspired me to take up bass. That's the direction I wanted to go in. Everybody in [Sabbath] liked Cream and Hendrix and Zepplin, and I suppose it was a natural progression for us to get even heavier than they were."

* Desi au anulat turneul (care i-ar fi adus si in Romania) din cauza unor probleme de sanatate ale chitaristului Bill Kelliher, iata ca Mastodon nu stau degeaba. O piesa nou nouta a acestora, intitulata 'Indian Theme', poate fi ascultata la acest link sau in clipul de mai jos.

Aceasta va fi inclusa pe un EP de 6 piese, "Jonah Hex", care va fi lansat pe data de 29 iunie si va fi folosit pentru coloana sonora a filmului cu acelasi nume.

Mastodon au fost contactati de regizorul filmului, Jimmy Hayward, dupa ce acesta a ascultat in repetate randuri albumul "Blood Mountain" al celebrilor sludge-rockeri din Atlanta, Georgia.

* Formatia germana de thrash metal Kreator a lansat un nou videoclip, intitulat 'Destroy What Destroys You'.

Piesa face parte de pe cel mai recent album al germanilor, "Hordes of Chaos", aparut in luna ianuarie a anului trecut. Albumul va fi re-lansat in luna iulie sub forma unui box-set intitulat "Hordes Of Chaos - Ultra Riot", care va contine: o noua coperta, un nou booklet, doua videoclipuri, un bonus CD care include 5 demo-uri in prima auditie si doua cover-uri Slime si Bad Religion, un photo-book de 12 pagini realizat de celebrul fotograf Harald Hoffmann, un poster cu coperta albumului, un photocard, un sticker si un voucher care poate fi folosit pentru achizitionarea de articole de merchandise.

Imaginile folosite in videoclip au fost filmate pe data de 17 octombrie 2009, la concertul sustinut alaturi de cei de la Exodus in Santiago, Chile.


* Celebrul grup britanic de industrial metal Godflesh a sustinut pe data de 18 iunie, in cadrul festivalului Hellfest din Clisson, Franta, primul concert dupa 8 ani de pauza. Trupa s-a despartit in 2002, dupa 14 ani de pionierat pe scena muzicii industriale. Formatia va concerta si in cadrul Supersonic Festival din Birmingham, Anglia, care se va desfasura in perioada 22-24 octombrie. Dupa aceste show-uri, viitorul Godflesh este deocamdata nesigur. Intrebat care sunt sansele de a inregistra un nou material, solistul Justin Broadrick a spus: "That is fairly minimal. We are more than happy to return to our old sound for a show, but uncertain how we could do this in the context of new material. We've both moved on so much, but we will not rule out any possibility currently."

Isis au sustinut ultimul concert din cariera pe data de 22 iunie, in Portland, Maine. Formatia a avut o activitate de 13 ani, in urma careia au ramas in urma 5 albume de studio: "Celestial" (2000), "Oceanic" (2002), "Panopticon" (2004), "In the Absence Of Truth" (2006) si "Wavering Radiant" (2009). In afara de primul, care a fost lansat de Escape Artist Records, toate celelalte au fost lansate la label-ul avangardist condus de Mike Patton, Ipecac Recordings.


* Fostul solist System Of A Down, Serj Tankian, a anuntat lansarea celui de-al doilea album solo din cariera. Acesta va fi intitulat "Imperfect Harmonies" si va aparea pe data de 7 septembrie 2010, via Serjical Strike/Reprise Records. Albumul a fost produs chiar de Serj, in studioul sau din Los Angeles. Primul single de pe disc, 'Left Of Center', va fi lansat pe data de 12 iulie.

Primul album lansat de Serj dupa despartirea System Of A Down (2006) a fost "Elect The Dead" (2007). Artistul descrie genul abordat in cariera solo ca fiind "electro-orchestral-jazz-rock".

* Un re-issue al celebrului album "Betty" al clasicei trupe de alternative/hardcore Helmet poate fi downloadat exclusiv pe site-ul trupei, contra sumei de 11.99 $. Pe langa tracklist-ul initial, noua varianta include si 5 piese bonus:

Helmet vor lansa pe data de 24 august un nou album de studio, "Seeing Eye Dog" - cel de-al saptelea din discografia trupei si primul dupa 4 ani.


* Cu 22 de ani de activitate in spate, formatia care a definit genul New York hardcore - Madball, se pregateste de lansarea unui nou album de studio, cel de-al optulea din cariera, intitulat "Empire". Inregistrarile vor incepe in luna iulie alaturi de producatorul Erik Rutan, iar discul va fi lansat cel mai probabil in septembrie sau octombrie, via Good Fight Music.

Solistul Freddy Cricien spune despre noul album: "There's a certain sound that we're known for, and as much as we want to evolve with the times, we also have to keep in mind that there's a certain standard and integrity with Madball, and we have to preserve that. Real-deal hardcore kids totally appreciate that. That said, the foundation always has to be a certain sound, but we always bring new elements into our sound. There has to be some evolution. It might appeal to people outside of the hardcore realm, but in the end, it's going to be a Madball record."


* Trupa americana de stoner rock Clutch se pregatste de lansarea unui nou material audio. Nu este vorba de aceasta data de un album de studio, ci de un EP acustic, la care formatia va incepe sa lucreze in luna iulie. EP-ul urmeaza sa fie lansat pana la sfarsitul anului 2010.

Printre piesele care ar putea aparea pe EP sunt 'Abraham Lincoln', 'Electric Worry', 'Regulator', 'Tight Like That', precum si compozitia noua 'Fixin' To Die'.

Clutch activeaza fara oprire din 1990, lasand in urma 9 albume care au ajutat la consacrarea genului cunoscut in prezent ca stoner rock. Cel mai recent efort discografic al trupei ramane "Strange Cousins From The West", aparut in 2009.


* Noul album Danzig, "Deth Red Sabaoth", poate fi ascultat in intregime la acest link. Albumul a fost lansat pe data de 22 iunie, fiind cel de-al noualea material din portofoliul trupei.

"I think that fans will really dig this new album. I've been told several times that the album has a cool vitality to it, that it sounds energized, and I got that feeling when I was recording it. I wanted to have an organic sound, bigger and thicker, so I went out and bought some 1970's Kustom tuck 'n roll bass amps to play some of the guitar parts through. You'll hear real reverb, real tremolo on this album, which sounds completely different than the stuff that's done with computer chips", spune legendarul Glenn Danzig.


* Blistering.com a realizat un interviu cu celebrul Tom G. Warrior, front-man-ul trupelor Hellhammer, Celtic Frost si, mai nou, Triptykon.

"From 1984 and even when the band didn't exist, Celtic Frost was the center of my life. You cannot flick the switch and that's the past. I've been able to put the initial turmoil behind with my work with Triptykon. On the other hand, a part of me will never be able to get over Celtic Frost. It's more about the way we lost Celtic Frost. If it would have been a decision by all of us if the band had run its course, it would have been much easier to bail. The way it fell apart, it's a very bitter ending."

"To me, the band left its magic in the events of 1987/1988 when we had to take a leave of absence to regain our artistic freedom. We lost our path and that just damaged Celtic Frost too much to regain our footing. Even though the environment was good for Vanity/Nemesis, we could have gone much further. At the time, the band was damaged beyond repair and we should have quit much earlier."

"I think the whole path of Celtic Frost would have been much different if we hadn’t of spent 14 months fighting against our own label. It was the beginning of the destruction. That 14 months where videos, tours were cancelled because we had to take legal action. At that time, our breakthrough album, Into the Pandemonium had been released, but we were at the very top and the very bottom at the same time. We were way too young to handle it. We didn’t have strong management, didn’t have the money to handle it, so it was an extremely desperate situation for us. We were way too immature to persist and better it. Anything after that, the people around us were intent on re-capturing the glory and it was never the same. We only found that again when we reformed the band several years later."


* Formatia britanica de alternative/indie Radiohead va lansa un nou album de studio pana la sfarsitul lui 2010. Va fi cel de-al optulea din variata discografie a trupei si primul dupa controversatul "In Rainbows", aparut in 2007 sub forma unui download gratuit pe site-ul trupei.

Chitaristul Ed O'Brien a declarat pentru BBC 6Music: "We're in the heart of the record. It's genuinely exciting. It's very different from what we did last time. It’s really nice to be doing this. It's so good to be making music with the band that you feel is still as good as it's ever been. (...) Ideally, it would be great if it came out sometime this year. It has got to. I hope so. We’re at the finishing line. When you're making a record, a film, writing a book for ages and ages you think the finishing line is miles away. Now it feels it's in touching distance. But of course, it being a creative process, at the last bit also, you have bursts of energy, you achieve a lot of things in a small period of time and then you’re nearly there… it might slow down. But yeah, hopefully it will be a matter of weeks."

Duminica: Retrospectiva externa a saptamanii (14-20 iunie)

* James Maynard Keenan, carismaticul front-man al trupelor Tool, A Perfect Circle si Puscifer, si Billy Howerdel, chitaristul A Perfect circle si solistul/chitaristul Ashes Divide, au oferit un moment memorabil pe data de 14 iunie, la E3 Video Game Convention (Los Angeles), interpretand celebra piesa a celor de la Queen, 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. Prestatia a fost incoprorata intr-un show multimedia total, scotand in evidenta inca o data, daca mai era nevoie, aptitudinile vocale incredibilie ale lui Keenan.

* Asemenea tuturor trupelor din valul initial de NU-metal, si Papa Roach s-au linistit si au trecut la piese mult mai user-friendly. Cea mai noua compozitie a acestora este intitulata 'Kick In The Teeth', este mult mai putin violenta decat ar sugera titlul, si poate fi ascultata mai jos.

Piesa va fi inclusa pe viitorul album al trupei, "Time For Annihilation... On The Road and On The Record", care va fi o combinatie de piese live si compozitii noi.


* O varianta live a viitorului single Filter, 'The Inevitable Relapse', poate fi urmarita mai jos. Filmarea a fost realizata pe data de 31 mai 2010, la Hollywood Roosevelt.

Piesa va fi inclusa pe cel de-al cincilea album de studio al trupei, "The Trouble With Angels", care va fi lansat in luna august via Rocket Science Ventures. Discul marcheaza o reintoarcere la radacinile industrial metal ale trupei, vizibile pe primele si totodata cele mai apreciate materiale, "Short Bus" si "Title Of Record".


* Formatia de alternative metal/metalcore/post-hardcore din Alsaka 36 Crazyfists va lansa un nou album de studio, cel de-al cincilea din discografie. Materialul este intitulat "Collisions And Castaways" si va fi disponibil incepand cu data de 27 iulie, prin intermediul celebrului label Roadrunner Records.

Albumul va avea si cativa invitati: Adam Jackson de la Twelve Tribes, Raithon Clay de la Plans To Make Perfect si Brandon Davis de la Across The Sun. De partea de productie se vor ocupa chitaristul Steve Holt si Andy Sneap.

Single-ul care va promova albumul este 'Reviver', acesta urmand sa beneficieze si de un clip in saptamaniile urmatoare.

* Doua trupe cult ale underground-metal-ului, The Melvins si Isis vor lansa pe data de 13 iulie un split-single 12", prin intermediul label-ului Hydra Head.

Isis si-au anuntat de curand retragerea din activitate, la finele turneului in desfasurare, dupa o activitate de pionierat pe scena post-metal, timp de 13 ani. Melvins au in spate aproape 30 de ani de activitate, 18 albume de studio, zeci de EP-uri, single-uri si compilatii, fiind o influenta esentiala in formarea unor genuri precum grunge si stoner rock.


* Compozitorul german Max Richter va lansa un nou album, cel de-al cincilea din cariera, pe data de 20 iulie. Acesta se cheama "Infra" si este produs de label-ul 130701.

"I started thinking about making a piece on the theme of journeys. Like a road movie. Or a traveler’s notebook. Or like the second unit in a film - when the scene has been played, and the image cuts away to the landscape going by. This started me thinking about Schubert's devastating and haunting "Winterreise" (Winter Journey), so I used some melodic material from Schubert as a found object in parts of my new piece."


* "Record Club" este un proiect fascinant initiat de celebrul muzician american Beck Hansen, in cadrul caruia diversi artisti si prieteni ai acestuia sunt invitati sa cante in intregime albume clasice. Cover-urile, care rezulta in urma unei sesiuni de inregistrari care dureaza o singura zi, sunt postate pe site-ul lui Beck: http://www.beck.com/recordclub/.

"Record Club is an informal meeting of various musicians to record an album in a day. The album chosen to be reinterpreted is used as a framework. Nothing is rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. A track is put up here once a week. The songs are rough renditions, often first takes that document what happened over the course of a day as opposed to a polished rendering. There is no intention to 'add to' the original work or attempt to recreate the power of the original recording. Only to play music and document what happens."

Ultimii invitati ai lui Beck au fost Tortoise si Thurston Moore, dar deocamdata nu se stie ce albume au fost alese de acestia. Cea mai recenta realizare din cadrul proiectului a fost albumul INXS - "Kick", interpretat de Beck alaturi de St. Vincent, Liars si Os Mutantes.

* Trupa americana de industrial metal Filter se pregateste de lansarea celui de-al cincilea album de studio. Acesta va fi intitulat 'The Trouble With Angels' si va aparea in luna august, prin intermediul casei de discuri Rocket Science.

* O noua piesa a trupei americane de alternative/NU-metal Ill Niño, intitulata 'Scarred (My Prison)', poate fi ascultata pe pagina acestora de myspace sau in clipul de mai jos.

Precedentul album Ill Niño, "Enigma", a fost lansat in martie 2008, inregistrand vanzari dezastruoase in comparatie cu primele 3 materiale.


* 1979 este anul in care legendara trupa de punk rock Bad Religion si-a inceput activitatea. Suntem in 2010 si Greg Graffin & co. inca se afla pe scena. Mai mult, formatia a anuntat ca a inceput lucrul la cel de-al cinsprezecelea album de studio. Discul va fi produs de Joe Barresi si va contine 16 piese, data lansarii fiind 28 septembrie.

Precedentul album Bad Religion, "New Maps Of Hell" a fost lansat in 2007.

Noul album va fi inregistrat in formula Greg Graffin (voce, 1979–prezent), Brett Gurewitz (chitara, 1979–1983, 1986–1994, 2001–prezent), Jay Bentley (bas, 1979–1982, 1986–prezent), Greg Hetson (chitara, 1984–prezent), Brian Baker (chitara, 1994–prezent) si Brooks Wackerman (tobe, 2001–prezent).


* "Cheng is showing signs of improved neuro function and improved alertness at this time. Increased response to verbal stimuli. Directed movement, with purpose, seen and observed."

Acesta este raportul doctorului Dr. Joseph Nguyen din data de 19 mai, in ceea ce priveste starea basistului Deftones, Chi Cheng. Chi a fost implicat intr-un grav accident de masina in luna noiembrie a anului 2008, aflandu-se de 18 luni intr-o stare de semi-constienta.

Cheltuielile pentru spitalizarea lui Chi au atins sume fabuloase. La adresa http://www.oneloveforchi.com/ se strang fonduri de la fanii de pretutindeni.

In 1996, KoRn includeau pe albumul "Life Is Peachy" un track dedicat basistului Deftones, intitulat 'Chi', care in aceasta perioada este mai actual ca niciodata.

* The Pulse Of Radio ne informeaza ca Rage Against The Machine se gandesc sa inregistreze un nou album. Este prima data de la reuniunea din 2007 cand se vorbeste despre un eventual nou material de studio.

Zack de la Rocha: "I think it's a genuine possibility. We have to get our heads around what we're going to do towards the end of the year and finish up on some other projects and we'll take it from there."

Ultimul album Rage Against The Machine, "Renegades" a fost lansat in 2000, fiind o colectie de cover-uri dupa o serie de trupe precum MC5, Afrika Bambaataa, Devo, Minor Threat, Cypress Hill, The Stooges sau The Rolling Stones.

Mai sus vedeti o imagine celebra din istoria Rage Against The Machine: trupa arzand steagul american in timpul concertului sustinut in cadrul festivalului Woodstock 1999.


* Intr-un interviu pentru Rax Active Citizenship Toolkit, Thom Yorke face cateva declaratii la adresa starii actuale si viitoare a industriei muzicale. Solistul Radiohead este foarte direct:

"When the corporate industry dies it will be no great loss to the world. So, I guess I would say, don't tie yourself to the sinking ship because, believe me, it's sinking."

Cel mai recent album Radiohead, "In Rainbows", a fost lansat sub forma unui download gratuit pe site-ul trupei, dupa 12 ani de contract cu EMI si 6 albume lansate in forma "clasica".

"It's simply a matter of time - months rather than years - before the music business establishment completely folds."

Radiohead lucreaza la ora actuala la un nou album, despre care nu se cunosc insa nici un fel de detalii referitoare la continut sau data lansarii.


* Legendara trupa scotiana de alternative/indie-pop The Vaselines isi va lansa cel de-al doilea album de studio din cariera, pe data de 14 septembrie, la un label despre care nu este nevoie sa mai adaugam nimic - Sub Pop.

Materialul va fi intitulat "Sex With An X" si va contine 12 piese:

Dupa lansarea acestuia din urma, trupa s-a destramat, dar legenda de abia acum incepea sa se contureze, prin intermediul celor de la Nirvana, care vor promova intens trei cover-uri Vaselines: 'Son Of A Gun', 'Molly's Lips' si 'Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam'. Vaselines s-au reunit in 2008, dupa o pauza de 18 ani.

'I Hate The 80's', o piesa de pe noul album, poate fi ascultata mai jos.

* Intr-un interviu acordat Rolling Stone, James Maynard Keenan ne informeaza ca este probabil sa beneficiem cat de curand de albume din partea proiectelor sale Tool si A Perfect Circle. Ultimul album Tool, "10000 Days", a aparut in 2006, in timp ce A Perfect Circle au lansat "Emotive" in 2004.

Keenan nu este insa foarte comunicativ: discul va fi lansat "cand va fi gata". "We're always writing. If it comes together, yeah, you'll hear some new stuff. If it's not ready, you won't."

In ceea ce priveste turneul Tool care debuteaza pe 19 iunie, Maynard spune:

"Maybe I'll just come out in my birthday suit. A 46-year-old naked dude running around onstage. Lets see how that goes over."

Nici despre albumul A Perfect Circle nu sunt date prea multe detalii:

"We've got some riffs and some music. It's just basically playing it over and over again while driving and waiting for things to fall into place."


* Soulfly nu mai au nevoie de nici o prezentare. Insa chitaristul Marc Rizzo mai are si alte proiecte in desfasurare, pe langa celebrul grup thrash/NU-metal condus de Max Cavalera.

Cel mai recent dintre acestea este Inpsychobleedia, o trupa formata alaturi de Dennis Kimak - chitara, Elo Hernandez - bas si Anthony Devizio - tobe. Rizzo se ocupa de chitara si de voce.

Primele doua piese Inpsychobleedia, 'Blind Leads the Blind' si 'Demonic Crypto History' pot fi downloadate via iTunes si Amazon.

De-a lungul carierei, Rizzo a mai cantat alaturi de Committee Of Thirteen, Ill Niño, Cavalera Conspiracy, si a lansat 3 albume solo, cel mai recent ("Legionnaire") chiar in 2010.


* Celebra trupa britanica de grindcore Napalm Death a lansat un nou videoclip, intitulat 'On The Brink Of Extinction'. Piesa face parte de pe cel mai recent album de studio al trupei, "Time Waits For No Slave", lansat pe 23 ianuarie 2009.

Mark Greenway: "As regards the meaning of the song, we wanted to convey that the process of evolution is an amazing thing, but also to say that as human beings we have the ability to assist where other beings suffer. In other words, we don't just let the rule of 'survival of the fittest' dictate that we should just stand back and either allow things to go into decline or participate in it."


* Formatia suedeza de death metal Demonical a lansat un nou videoclip, intitulat 'Baptized In Fire'. Piesa face parte de pe cel de-al doilea album al trupei, "Hellsworn", lansat in mai 2009.
