* Solistul trupei System Of A Down, Serj Tankian, se pregateste de lansarea celui de-al doilea album solo, intitulat "Imperfect Harmonies". Noul material discografic va aparea pe data de 21 septembrie la casa de discuri Serjical Strike/Reprise si va avea ca prim single piesa 'Left Of Center', al carei videoclip, recent lansat, il puteti urmari mai jos:
Intrebat de The Pulse Of Radio despre o posibila revenire a trupei System Of A Down, Serj Tankian a declarat:
"Shavo got married like two months ago, we were all at his wedding, and you know, we all talk, we're friends, nothing's changed, and we get offers to play shows, tours, whatever, and we discuss them once in a while. We have not made any decisions as of yet as to what we're gonna do. But when we do, it'll be quite obvious."
La randul sau, basistul Shavo Odadjian a dezvaluit intr-un interviu acordat revistei Hustler motivul pentru care trupa a decis sa ia aceasta pauza pe timp nelimitat:
"We won a Grammy and we had two number one records. We were making a lot of loot. Then some people within the group of four brothers started seeing things differently... and their actions made the reactions of others pretty unbrotherly-like."
"All of a sudden band members are having problems financially... fighting about, 'I want my style of music to be this and that.' I love them. They're my brothers, but I couldn't see my brothers digging into each other's pockets and killing each other's artistic creativity."
* Jurnalistul Joe Bosso de la publicatia on-line MusicRadar.com a realizat recent un interviu cu solistul trupei Helmet, Page Hamilton. Mai jos puteti citi cateva extrase :
MusicRadar.com: One thing that stands out on the new album is your use of distortion, which has long been a hallmark of your sound. What is your philosophy about distortion?
Page: "Distortion is a tonal color, for sure. I look back to my first distortion box, the MXR Plus — I didn't know anything about it, but I loved how cool and crunchy it made my sound. I learned a lot when I played in Band Of Susans and I picked up a lot of tricks. You spend time manipulating sounds and eventually you can become a sonic sculptor.
"Take the piece from the new record called 'Morphing': I have nine guitars on there, doing different versions of feedback. It sounds beautiful. I always wanted to study orchestration, so I did — I studied at USC. Eventually, I got ideas of how to build and orchestrate distortion and feedback. If you keep an open mind about sound and don't try to limit yourself to the status quo, you can do anything."
MusicRadar.com: One more question about the new album: You do a fantastic cover of The Beatles' "And Your Bird Can Sing". Did you intentionally pick one of the harder guitar songs in The Beatles' catalogue?
Page: "No, not at all. I just always loved that song and thought of doing it. It's such an odd track and I always felt like I could do something cool with it. The degree of guitar difficulty didn't come into my mind. I just love the song, the way it progresses.
"The Beatles were amazing. There's another song of their theirs, 'Dear Prudence'… Man, there's triads starting at the 15th fret, working through the inversions. Those guys knew their instruments. I don't know if they could sight-read, but they were phenomenal musicians. Anybody who questions the musicality of The Beatles, they're just not paying attention."

* Conform chitaristului Tom Morello, Rage Against The Machine nu intentioneaza sa scoata un nou album anul acesta. Morello a declarat unui post de radio din Florida:
"We're playing some shows in South America. The band gets along great, we're playing some of the best shows of our career over the last couple of years, and no one is ruling out that... Zack's been in the middle of making a One Day At A Lion record, and he's been on tour with that, I have a Street Sweeper record coming out, and I'm working on he next The Nightwatchman record. So there's no plans to go into the studio and do that now, but as a band, I hope that we will continue to, at a minimum, play shows in the future."
Ultimul material discografic al trupei, intitulat "Renegades", a fost lansat in anul 2000.
* Celebra trupa de grunge Pearl Jam implineste anul acesta 20 de ani de existenta. Cu toate acestea, membrii nu doresc sa organizeze ceva deosebit pentru a marca acest eveniment. Totusi, in aceeasi perioada, ei vor lua parte la concertele de caritate organizate de Neil Young pentru copii cu deficente fizice ai scolii Bridge din Mountain View, California.
Chitaristul trupei, Steve Gossard, a declarat pentru The Pulse Of Radio:
"The only thing we've got going on in October is Bridge School, which is really special. So that's our 20th anniversary, which is fitting. It's perfect: not too blown up. It's not about us, it about all those kids that are on stage with you and about Neil Young and his commitment, his influence."
Concertele vor avea loc pe 23 si 24 octombrie.
*Legendara trupa de NY hardcore Madball va lansa un nou album, intitulat "Empire", pe data de 12 octombrie, via Good Fight Music. O prima piesa de pe acest nou material discografic, intitulata 'R.A.H.C.' poate fi ascultata pe pagina de myspace a trupei.
* O alta trupa care sarbatoreste anul acesta 20 de ani de activitate este My Dying Bride. Pentru a marca acest moment, membrii au decis sa lanseze un best of, intitulat "Evinta", care este programat sa apara in aceasta toamna via Peaceville Records. Deocamdata nu se cunosc alte detalii.
De asemenea, trupa intentioneaza se re-editeze pe vinil albumul "Turn Loose the Swans", lansat in 1993.
My Dying Bride este o trupa de doom metal din Anglia, care in toata aceasta perioada de 20 de ani a lansat nu mai putin de 10 albume, 3 EP-uri, 4 compilatii, un album live si un box set. Membrii trupei sunt Aaron Stainthorpe (voce), Andrew Craighan (chitara), Hamish Glencross (chitara), Lena Abé (bas), Dan Mullins (tobe) si Shaun Macgowan (keyboards/vioara).
* Formatia de alternative metal Helmet se pregateste de lansarea unui nou album. Intitulat "Seeing Eye Dog", noul material discografic este programat sa apara pe data de 7 septembrie la casa de discuri Work Song.

Pe data de 24 august, Korn au fost invitati la emisiunea Lopez Tonight, unde membrii trupei au cantat live chiar piesa 'Let The Guilt Go'.

* Islaja, proiectul muzical al solistei finlandeze de psych-folk Merja Kokkonen, va lansa un nou album, intitulat "Keraaminen Paa". Noul material discografic este programat sa apara pe data de 14 septembrie, la casa de discuri Fonal Records.

Merja Kokkonen este o cantareata din Finlanda care a inceput sa cante sub numele de Islaja din anul 2004. Genul pe care il abordeaza este o combinatie de muzica experimentala/psychedelica cu folk. A fost deseori comparata cu soliste consacrate precum Bjork sau Nico. In afara de proiectul Islaja, Merja mai activeaza si in cadrul trupelor Avarus, Kemialliset Ystavat si Hertta Lussu Assa.
