* Fostul chitarist al trupei Korn, Brian "Head" Welch, a anunţat prin intermediul unui comunicat de presă postat pe site-ul său oficial că se pregăteşte de lansarea unui nou single, intitulat 'Paralyzed'. Deocamdată, alte detalii nu au fost dezvăluite.

Life is a crazy roller coaster ride, man. The ups and downs we go through are enough to drive us insane if we let them.

I'm sure all of you know the story of my separation from Korn many years ago and the victories and struggles I've been through since. Through it all, I've noticed something really cool happen in me the last few years. I've actually grown to accept and appreciate the struggles in life so much, because without them, there would be no victories.

Recently, I have split from my record label Driven Music Group and I have faced many new struggles in my life. However, I've also been traveling the world with my band (Valentine, Dan and J.R.) playing for you, my amazing fans! I am so excited to announce that a new chapter in my life is finally here and I'm so thankful that all of you can be a part of it!

I know a lot of you have been waiting a long time for new music from us, and honestly, so have we! Which is why we're so excited to tell you that we've been writing and recording with Jasen Rauch, one of the top producers and former guitarist of Red.

It feels amazing to be back in the studio and making new music!

A new EP will be out early next year, and we cannot wait for you to hear what we're working on! It is definitely some of the best music I've ever been a part of.

The good news is, you won't have to wait until next year for new music though. On October 4th, we will be releasing our new single called 'Paralyzed'. I hope you love the song as much as we do! We are definitely getting great feedback so far. A video for 'Paralyzed' will also be released around the same time. The single will be available at iTunes and other digital download sites. It will be sent out to radio stations as well.

Can you guys please do us a huge favor? Please spread the word about the October 4th release date of 'Paralyzed' and call your local radio stations and ask them to play it. Use any means necessary to get the word out — word of mouth, flyers, and obviously Twitter, Facebook, MySpace and any other social sites out there! We really appreciate all of your help.

As most of you know, this isn't only about selling our music. There is a much higher purpose with what we do, so please help us pour some love into people's lives.

We also want to let you know we will be headlining the 'Over My Head Tour' presented by Mocha Club this September. We're excited to travel throughout the Western United States with our homies in Project 86, Spoken, and The Wedding. * Trupa americană de indie rock Wild Flag a lansat un nou videoclip pentru piesa 'Romance', inclusă pe albumul "Wild Flag", programat să apară pe data de 12 septembrie la casa de discuri Merge. Noul clip, ce poate fi urmărit mai jos, a fost regizat de Tom Scharpling:

* Trupa britanică de extreme metal Cradle Of Filth a dezvăluit săptămâna aceasta tracklist-ul şi artwork-ul mini-albumului "Evermore Darkly…", ce va apărea pe data de 10 octombrie la casa de discuri Peaceville. Noul material discografic va conţine următoarele piese:

* Cântăreaţa britanică PJ Harvey a câştigat săptămâna aceasta, pentru a doua oară, prestigiosul premiu Mercury, fiind singura artistă care a reuşit această performanţă. Premiul i-a fost acordat pentrul albumul "Let England Shake", lansat în luna februarie a acestui an.

Premiul Mercury se acordă anual, începând din 1992, celui mai bun album din Marea Britanie şi Irlanda. PJ Harvey a mai câştigat acest premiu în 2001 pentru albumul "Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea".

Acum 10 ani, acest eveniment a fost oarecum umbrit de atacurile teoriste din SUA, lucru amintit şi de cântăreaţă:

"Ten years ago feels like such a surreal experience, I’m sure for everybody, but my only memory of that day really is being in the hotel room and watching the television and seeing the Pentagon burning and I felt so separate from the prize that was being given here at that time, and I’m sure it must have felt very odd for the people that were here. So to have the chance again to be here and actually receive an award means a great deal to me."

Aceasta a mai adăugat că speră să mai aibă ocazia să câştige acest premiu şi peste alţi zece ani:

"I hope to be back here again in another 10 years’ time with another record because it’s very important to me to keep making work that is of relevance, not just to myself but to other people."


* Trupa britanică de doom metal My Dying Bride se pregăteşte de lansarea unui EP intitulat "The Barghest O' Whitby". Noul material discografic va apărea pe data de 7 noiembrie via Peaceville Records. Deocamdată, tracklist-ul nu a fost dezvăluit.

Anul acesta, în luna mai, trupa a lansat şi un album de studio, intitulat "Evinta", ce a marcat cei 20 de ani de la înfiinţare.

"Carrying straight on from the success of 'Evinta' found us kind of out of breath for a second; we were already aware of a new-found love of all things bleak and grey and were eager to start writing in a more traditional My Dying Bride style. What did catch us off guard was the increased heaviness and the fresh approach to song writing. Moving away somewhat with the lyrical theme from our usual feeding ground, we found ourselves on the rainy moors of Yorkshire contemplating the story of the Barghest, a supernatural entity hell bent on revenge. The tale now to be told wove itself into a 25-minute epic which initially we thought would be a three part EP, but it simply became one very long song full of everything My Dying Bride and more. The violins conjure lonely tears atop a chasm of epic British doom."


* Săptămâna aceasta, Lou Reed şi membrii trupei Metallica au dezvăluit în sfârşit tracklist-ul complet al albumului "Lulu", pe care aceştia au colaborat:

* Membrii trupei americane de sludge metal/progressive Mastodon au postat online o nouă piesă de pe albumul "The Hunter", programat să apară pe data de 27 septembrie la casa de discuri Reprise. Aceasta se numeşte 'Spectrelight' şi poate fi ascultată mai jos:

Pe piesă apare la voce şi solistul trupei Neurosis, Scott Kelly.


* Membrii trupei americane de thrash metal Megadeth au dezvăluit săptămâna aceasta tracklist-ul complet şi coperta noului lor album de studio, intitulat "Thirteen", ce va apărea pe data de 1 noiembrie via Roadrunner Records.

Coperta va arăta aşa:

"Thirteen" a fost înregistrat în formula Dave Mustaine (voce, chitară), Chris Broderick (chitară), Shawn Drover (Tobe) şi Dave Ellefson (bas), revenit în trupă după o absenţă de câţiva ani.

Ultimul album de studio lansat de cei de la Megadeth este mult apreciatul "Endgame", apărut în septembrie 2009.


* Pe data de 5 septembrie, fostul solist al trupei Queen, Freddie Mercury, ar fi împlinit 65 de ani. Aşa cum era de aşteptat, Brian May, Roger Taylor, John Deacon, dar şi presa, fanii şi chiar motorul de căutare Google au ţinut să îl omagieze pe cel care este considerat cel mai mare showman al tuturor timpurilor.

- Cei trei membrii Queen rămaşi în viaţă au organizat pe data de 5 septembrie o licitaţie caritabilă pentru a strânge bani, ce vor ajunge la fundaţia The Mercury Phoenix Trust, dedicată luptei contra SIDA, boala care l-a răpus pe Freddie.

- Brian May i-a adus un omagiu scris fostului său coleg de trupă. Mai jos puteţi citi câteva fragmente:

"I was first introduced to Freddie Mercury, a paradoxically shy yet flamboyant young man at the side of the stage at one of our early gigs. He told me he was excited by how we played, he had some ideas and he could sing! I'm not sure we took him very seriously, but he did have the air of someone who knew he was right. He was a frail but energised dandy, with seemingly impossible dreams and a wicked twinkle in his eye."

"Freddie was fully focused, never allowing anything or anyone to get in the way of his vision for the future. He was truly a free spirit. There are not many of these in the world. To achieve this, you have to be, like Freddie, fearless—unafraid of upsetting anyone's apple cart."

"Some people imagine Freddie as the fiery, difficult diva who required everyone around him to compromise. No. In our world, as four artists attempting to paint on the same canvas, Freddie was always the one who could find the compromise—the way to pull it through. If he found himself at odds with any one of us, he would quickly dispel the cloud with a generous gesture, a wisecrack or an impromptu present. I remember one morning after a particularly tense discussion he presented me with a cassette. He had been up most of the night compiling a collage of my guitar solos. "I wanted you to hear them as I hear them, dear," he said. "They're all fab, so I made them into a symphony!""
