Duminica: Retrospectiva externa a saptamanii (11 – 17 octombrie)

* Emisiunea "That metal show", realizata de Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine si Don Jamieson, revine in forta cu cel de-al saselea sezon. Aceasta va fi difuzata in fiecare sambata, de la ora 23:00, pe canalul VH1 Classic.

"That metal show" este singura emisiune de pe un post de televiziune dedicata in intregime rock-ului si metal-ului. Formatul, extins acum la durata de o ora, presupune discutii libere cu diverse trupe.

Printre invitatii acestui sezon se vor numara muzicieni precum Geezer Butler, Tom Morello, Philip Anselmo, Rob Halford si Glenn Danzig. Primul episod al sezonului a fost deja filmat si reprezinta un tribut pentru legendarul solist al trupei Black Sabbath, Ronnie James Dio, care a murit de cancer la stomac pe data de 16 mai.


* Site-ul Vater.com a realizat un interviu cu tobosarul trupei Chevelle, Sam Loeffler. Acesta vorbeste despre background-ul sau muzical si isi expune parerea despre situatia actuala a industriei muzicale.

* Trupa britanica de post-punk Wire se pregateste de lansarea unui nou album. Intitulat "Red Barked Tree", noul material discografic va fi lansat pe data de 11 ianuarie 2011, prin intermediul casei de discuri Pink Flag Records.

Wire este o trupa britanica care s-a infiintat in 1976, abordand la inceput un punk rock similar celor de la Sex Pistols sau The Clash. Ulterior, sound-ul trupei s-a schimbat, trecandu-se la post-punk. Desi nu au avut niciodata parte de recunoasterea mainstream-ului, astazi multe trupe celebre, precum Manic Street Preachers, R.E.M, Blur, Bloc Party etc., ii enumera pe Wire printre principalele influente. In cei peste 30 de ani de activitate, trupa a lansat 12 albume de studio, 20 de EP-uri si mai multe albume live. Ultimul material marca Wire, intitulat "Object 47", a aparut in luna iulie a anului 2008.


* Revista britanica Guitarist a realizat recent un interviu cu solistul trupei Opeth, Mikael Akerfeldt. Iata cateva fragmente:

Guitarist: "Difficult question but 20 years in, what are your proudest achievements so far?"

Mikael Akerfeldt: "That is a difficult question. I don't ever feel particularly proud in the sense of, 'Look at me. I did this and that.' I'm happy with every new album."

Guitarist: And it's all without compromise…

Mikael Akerfeldt: "Yes, definitely. Musically, I don't compromise for anyone. If you ask me to do it a certain way, you can just fuck off, if you know what I mean. Once the music and the lyrics are done, I can be a bit of a whore. If that's what the label wants me to do — I'll do their interviews, I'll do whatever they tell me to do in order to promote the record and work. But when it comes to the music, it's sacred to me. I can be like the Antichrist when it comes to people interfering with the music. Not the band — that's not a problem at all — but if a record label executive came up to me and said, 'That riff is not good,' I would probably headbutt him. "Shut the fuck up and sell the record.'"

Guitarist: You've mentioned recently that there's a possibility of you making a solo acoustic album – is this still on your mind?

Mikael Akerfeldt: "Yes, it is. I'm actually working on a song for it now. I'm working on one OPETH song and a solo song. But I did a vocal line and it was horrible! I'll have to do something better. The thing with this so-called solo album is it might not be released but it's something I want to do for me — to produce an album from scratch in my home studio without any help."

* R.E.M. au dezvaluit mai multe informatii legate de noul lor album, care este programat sa apara in prima jumatate a anului 2011. Conform manager-ului trupei, Bertis Downs, noul material discografic se va numi "Collapse Into Now" si va fi produs de Jacknife Lee, cel care a lucrat si la cel mai recent album R.E.M., aparut in 2008.

* Solistul trupei Triptykon, Tom Warrior (pe numele sau adevarat Tom Gabriel Fischer), a acordat un interviu jurnalistului Chris Harris de la site-ul gunshyassassin.com.

Tom G. Warrior: "You never like people kissing your ass, but you also don't like people screwing with you. It goes both ways. I'm just a musician and I am very passionate about music. It's fine with me if people just appreciate my music. I don't do this to be worshipped. If anything, my beginnings were so difficult and so humble and I still feel mentally so close to those times that it feels completely contrived to me. I'm not Tom Warrior, the legend — as people call me. I'm just Tom Warrior — somebody who had a teenage dream to play music to escape from a dismal reality in my private life. Music makes me happy and that's really the end of it."

- despre plecarea de la Celtic Frost:

"I knew I was giving up a lot when I left Celtic Frost. It was not a decision I made in a hurry or in anger or something. I knew it was coming to this and I knew I was going to give up a lot and have to start from scratch again. So I did and I was totally open in what to expect and I was surprised that there were far more people interested right from the beginning in Triptykon than I thought and I am very happy and proud about that."

- despre EP-ul "Shatter", care va fi lansat pe data de 25 octombrie:

"We did a very detailed pre-production for the album and the material we took to the studio was all material that was basically designed to be on the "Eparistera Daimones" album. The album eventually had a playing time of 72 minutes, and that was of course already enough, so we ended up having to withdraw three songs from the album, but these songs were basically songs that were designed for the album."

* Weezer se pregatesc pentru lansarea unui nou material discografic, de data aceasta o compilatie cu piese rare, care nu au fost incluse pe nici un album. Intitulat "Death To False Metal", noul disc va aparea pe data de 2 noiembrie la cunoscutul label Geffen Records.

Recent, trupa a si-a lansat cel de-al optulea album de studio, intitulat "Hurley".


* O alta piesa de pe noul album Brian Eno poate fi ascultata on-line. Intitulata 'Horse', piesa va ocupa pozitia a 5-a in tracklist-ul albumului "Small Craft On A Milk Sea", care este programat sa apara pe data de 2 noiembrie la casa de discuri Warp.

* Solistul trupei The Pixies, Francis Black, se pregateste de lansarea unui nou album solo. Intitulat "The Golem", noul material discografic reprezinta o re-editare a unui soundtrack compus de acelasi Francis Black pentru filmul german expresionist "Der Golem, Wie Er In Die Welt Kam" ("The Golem: How He Came Into The World").

Se pare ca aceasta re-editare doreste sa ofere publicului o versiune mai mainstream a soundtrack-ului, care a fost gandit pentru a se plia pe imaginile filmului german realizat in 1920 de Paul Wegener. Lansarea albumului va avea loc pe data de 16 noiembrie.

Tracklist-ul discului va fi diferit fata de varianta soundtrack-ului, fiind eliminate anumite piese tematice.
