The Hermitt este o trupa experimentala de post-grunge din Brooklyn, New York, formata din Rodrigo Lopresti (chitara, voce), Kevin Brady (bas) si Patrick Galligan (tobe). Muzica celor trei nu a depasit niciodata nivelul "underground", devenind totusi cunoscuta unui numar mai mare de persoane dupa aparitia in filmul lui Gus Van Sant "Last Days", lansat in 2005. The Hermitt au fost prezenti pe soundtrack cu doua piese, 'Seen As None' si 'A Pointless Ride', aceasta din urma, un imn intunecat al pesimismului, devenind 'hit-ul' formatiei.
Pana in prezent, The Hermitt au lansat un singur album de studio, "The Hermitt & The Story of The Insects", inregistrat cu resurse tehnice minime si aparut in 2003 la label-ul lui Lopresti, Devious Semantics. Lopresti canta la toate instrumentele pe aproape toate cele 14 track-uri. Desi acustice, acestea nu sunt deloc soft, ci din contra, extrem de incomode stilistic si cu siguranta deloc radio-friendly. "The Hermitt & The Story of The Insects" este o bijuterie muzicala, fiind un album reprezentativ pentru underground si D.I.Y. "Acoustic Punk and musical neuroses pair up for sideways rock you can love."
The Hermitt nu au mai sustinut nici un concert din anul 2008.
